A Gravity Forms alternative makes sense when the forms you need keep landing on the Elite plan, or when a workflow means buying Gravity Flow on top. Gravity Forms is powerful and well proven. This guide is for teams, agencies and developers who like that power but not the add-on bill. Gravity Forms has been around for more than 15 years, so it deserves a careful comparison. We compare plans, workflows and the work of moving.
We make Echo Forms, which is one of the alternatives. The Gravity figures come from the Gravity Forms pricing page and the Gravity Flow page, checked in October 2026.
The short version
- Gravity Forms has no free version. Plans are Basic at $59, Pro at $159 and Elite at $259 a year.
- Surveys, quizzes, polls, signatures, conversational forms and partial entries are on Elite.
- Workflows that move an entry between people or forms need Gravity Flow, from $99 a year more.
- Echo Forms includes all of those on every Signature plan, from $49.99 a year, and imports Gravity forms.
Why do people look for a Gravity Forms alternative?
Because the features many forms need now sit on the top plan. Gravity Forms grew around add-ons, and its pricing follows them. Here is where popular features sit, according to its own page:
| Feature | Lowest Gravity plan | With Echo Forms |
|---|---|---|
| Free version | None | Free plugin |
| Stripe, PayPal, Square | Pro | Stripe and PayPal free, Square with Signature |
| Zapier | Pro | Every Signature plan |
| Surveys, quizzes, polls | Elite | Every Signature plan |
| Signatures, conversational forms | Elite | Every Signature plan |
| Partial entries (people who leave half way) | Elite | Every Signature plan |
| Advanced post creation, webhooks | Elite | Every Signature plan |
| Workflows and approvals | Gravity Flow, from $99 a year | Every Signature plan |
Gravity’s own line is that “All of our Add-Ons are included with Elite”. That is fair, but it means the plan with everything costs $259 a year, and workflows cost more again.
What does Gravity Flow do, and do you need it?
Gravity Flow moves an entry through steps, such as an approval by a manager, a review, or a hand-off to another person. It is a separate product with its own license, from $99 a year for one site. You need something like it when one form starts a process that other people finish.
Echo Forms builds that in. With Signature, one form can hand off to the next with the answers carried over, so an intake opens the quote form already filled in, and the quote goes on to an approval form. See form workflows for how it looks.
What should a Gravity Forms alternative do as well?
Gravity’s strengths are real, so check that an alternative matches them where it counts for you:
- Calculations with formulas, for quotes and order totals.
- Conditional logic on fields, emails and confirmations.
- Entries in a proper table, searchable and exportable, not stored with your posts.
- Developer hooks, so you can extend it without editing the plugin.
- An importer, so nothing needs rebuilding by hand.
Echo Forms has all five. Entries live in Echo’s own database table, and the free plugin already includes calculations, logic and payments.
How to move from Gravity Forms in under 1 hour
- Install Echo Forms. It can run next to Gravity Forms while you move, and the install takes about 2 minutes.
- Open the Echo forms list and bring a form from another plugin.
- Pick the Gravity forms to copy. Their fields and entries come across.
- Check each form’s emails and confirmation message, which takes about 5 minutes a form.
- Swap the form on each page and send a test entry.
- Deactivate Gravity Forms when every page uses the new form.
The guide to moving a form covers the importer step by step.
How much does switching save?
On one site, the plan with every feature costs $49.99 a year with Echo, against $259 for Gravity Elite, plus $99 if you use Gravity Flow. On 25 sites, Echo costs $199.99 a year, and on 100 sites $299.99. The 10, 25 and 100 site plans also let a client take over their own license, so an agency stops paying for sites it no longer runs.
When should you stay with Gravity Forms?
If you rely on a niche third-party add-on that only exists for Gravity, stay until there is a way to replace it. The same goes for a large site with custom code built on Gravity hooks. In every other case, moving takes an afternoon, and it pays back at the next renewal.
Every Echo Signature plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee, so you have 14 days to move a real form and decide. If you are weighing Gravity Forms Elite against a switch from Gravity Forms, that is the cheapest way to find out.
You can try any Echo template live, compare Free and Signature or check the full pricing first.
Bring your Gravity forms with you
Echo Forms copies Gravity Forms forms and their entries, and every Signature feature comes with every plan.
