Multi-step forms for WordPress that turn a long form into short steps.

A multi-step form in WordPress breaks one long form into short steps: add a page break wherever a new step should start. Each step checks its own answers before they move on, and a progress bar shows how far along they are. It is in the free plugin.

Name every step

A title for each step, and the button that leads to it.

A page break starts a new step. Give it a title, such as Your visit, for the progress indicator, and your own words for the button that leads there, such as Next: your visit.

How to split a form into steps.

A multi page form with a progress bar is ideal for teams with long intake, booking or application forms. Steps take about 5 minutes to add, because each page break is one field you drop where a step begins.

01

Add page breaks

Drop a Page break where each new step should start, and give it a Step title such as Your details.

02

Name the Next button

Each break sets the words on the button before it, such as Continue to payment. Left blank, it says Next.

03

Pick a progress indicator

Choose one of 15 looks under Settings > General, from numbered steps to a percent counter.

04

Keep each step small

One topic per step reads best, as GOV.UK’s guide to structuring forms explains. With Signature, an Entry preview lets them check every answer.
