Post creation comes with Echo Forms Signature. While the add-on is off, entries are still kept as usual but make no post.
With post creation on, every entry also becomes a WordPress post. Visitors can send in a story, an event, a testimonial or a listing, and it lands in your posts ready to check and publish.
Switch it on
Tick Create a post from each entry 1. Entries sent from Test mode or Auto-fill and submit make no post, so test answers never reach your site.
Post type, status and author
- Post type 2: what kind of post each entry becomes: an ordinary Post, a Page, or any other public type on your site, such as Events from an events plugin or Listings from a directory theme.
- Post status 3: Draft, Pending review or Published. Draft is the safest default, review submissions before they go live. Pending review works the same but shows up in WordPress’s Pending list, which is handy when someone else does the approving. Published puts it live the moment it is sent, so only use it for a form only trusted people can send.
- Post author 4: who the post is credited to. Visitors who send this form are not logged in to WordPress, so pick a real author for the new post here. Site default uses the site’s first administrator.
For example, a Share your story form for a charity: Post, Pending review, author Stories Team. Each story arrives in Posts waiting for a quick read, then one click publishes it.
Choose what each answer fills
Open a field on the Build tab and set Links to post field in its options:
| Choice | What it fills |
|---|---|
| Post title | The post’s title. A post with nothing linked to its title is called (form name) submission. |
| Post content | The body of the post. |
| Post excerpt | The short summary some themes show in lists. |
| Featured image | The post’s main picture, from a File upload or Camera field. The picture is added to your Media Library. |
| Custom field | Any custom field, by its name, such as event_date. Useful with a theme or plugin that shows events or listings. |
| Not linked | Nothing on the post. The answer is still on the entry. |
Pair it with Pending review and an email to yourself, and you have a guest post or testimonial inbox: read it, press Publish.
